Nelson, April 7.—The Nelson strike is spreading. Tomorrow, according to present arrange- ments, the carpenters will join the strikers, and there is a pos- sibility that the retail clerks wil! also quit work. At present the earpenters are the only building trade workers not on strike. As most of the drivers of delivery rigs are members of the Retuiil Clerks’ Union, the effect of the clerks’ strike would be to make the purchase and delivery of pro- visions difficult. On Saturday the Doukhobors Society purchased the business f the Kootenay Ice & Fuel Com- pany, whose teamsters are at present on strike, and they are reported to be negotiating for the purchase of the transfer business. A large number of Doukhobors arrived in town to- day and they will start delivering coal at once, replacing the team- sters now on strike. Big Cargo of Cattle. The G. T.
