They have 200,- 000 feet of logs cut at the mill site, and a contract has been let for cutting 500,000 feet more, in addition to which they have about 200,000 feel already cut on the townsite. Supt. Phelan, of the Govern- ment telegraph service, has giv- en authority for the placing of a telegraph office at Smithers, and the work will be undertaken at an early date. The main line will be tapped at a point near Canyon Creek and a branch built from there into the town, a distance of about three miles. A telephone has been installed in Adams’ Smithers drug store, giving communication with Haz- elton, New Hazelton, Telkwa and Aldermere and all way stations, as well as construction camps of the Upper Bulkley. The road between Telkwa and Hazelton is now in very good shape, and if the weather re- mains favorable the automobile stages will be running next week. —Telkwa Tribune.
