It is understood that Mr. Anderson will work the same this winter. Assistant Road Superintendent Jack Anderson and his brother Jim left on last week’s boat for a holiday in Alberta. Unless a further effort is made to provide additional funds to continue the Stewart General Hospital open it is feared by the directors that the institution will have to close for the season at the end of the month. Bell, who owns a busi- ness block on Fifth avenue, and who has been working for the past several months with the Northern Construction Company at Kamloops, is expected to re- turn home some time early in November. E. J. Conway, a mining engi- neer on the staff of the Granby Consolidate Mining & Smelting Company, recently spent five days examining the Red Cliff mine. Mr. Conway is in charge of the development being undertaken by the company at Swamp Point, down the Portland Canal. The members of the Myerstein survey party returned to Vic- toria on the last boat after com- pleting the survey of a large area of lan dsurrounding Mexi- adin lake and along the Naas river in the vicinity of the White river. Mr. Myerstein will return here again before the winter sea- son opens. .W J.
