Cleaners. tf SHOT ROAD FOREMAN FOLLOWING QUARREL One of Gang Had Words With Boss and Later Took His Life Campbell River, May 14,—Ri- chard Hargraves, of’ Oyster Riv- er, Vancouver Island, provincial road foreman, was shot, and kill- ed by Robert Suttie, a member of Hargraves’ road gang for the past seven years. Suttie is now under arrest. The men_ have been on friendly terms until yes- terday, when it was known they had some words of disagree- ment. It is alleged that Suttie, at the time and = afterwards, threatened to take Hargreaves’ life. Early in the morning Suttie left camp and went home, where he got his rifle and returned to the road camp. He concealed himself on the roadside where the gang would pass. Two shots were fired into Hargreaves’ body, killing him in- stantly. Suttie was seized by the rest of the gang and held un- til the arrival of the police.
