In the near future, 98 per When a man finds himself cent pure copper will be ship- looking back, instead of for- ped through Prince Rupert to ward, it is a sure sign that he is getting old. Youth looks ahead with expectancy; age lives in the past. Age, how- ever, is not always a matter of years. There are many young men of sixty and over, and, un- fortunately, many old men of thirty. The Northwest is a poor an-! chorage for old men of any age, ' chiefly because it iso youth- ful. Everything ahead. What has been done is merely a slight scratch on the surface of things, showing more clear- ly how much there is to be done Con- lies in the years to come. tinuous looking ahead keeps a man young. That is why one meets youths of eighty in this wonderful north land, many of them still able to pack their prospecting outfit with the best. Prince Rupert has had its few years of initial mushroom growth, with its attendant bus- tle and excitement, but it is still merely a healthy infant. The real growth has yet to come. The world is just be- ginning to discover its possi- bilities, its wonderful approach by either land or water; its background of fertile valleys and mineral-laden mountains; hunting grounds and _ well stocked streams, and its prox- imity to the great ocean fishing banks and to the Orient. The scarcity of fish in Brit- ain, resulting from the use of so many trawlers as mine- sweepers, has brought Prince Rupert more prominently than ever before the British public. I halibut and frozen salmon are now famous on the London market. Prince Rupert Skeena River Mineral development is nat- urally a much slower process, but it is coming along nicely. The great mineral demand of Europe today is for copper. When the war is over and capital is more readily obtain- able for development. work, i is not too much to expect that Rupert may have a smelter of its own. The approaching completion of the drydock heralds another line of development. Its con- struction has been a boon, but worth will its real only be realized when it begins to do the business for which it was planned. The get-rich-quick days may be over, but the days of s!eauy up-building of a solid, lasting, trade ahead. world-wide are Look ahead.
