Board Explaining High Cost. The request of the School Board presented at last night's council meeting for the removal of the water main crossing. the new Hays Cove Circle school site, ‘where the new school is to be built, was the cause of consider- able discussion among the. alder- men. It was finally decided to re- port back to the school board im- imediately explaining the large ex- pense, $7,000, that would be en- ltailed in changing the sewer when ithe putting of the school to one 'side or the other of the line in lthe large circle would avoid the lextraordinary expense. The city engineer was at the meeting and explained the heavy cost that the proposed change would mean. At the present time ithe line runs through the centre of the circle so that any change would mean that more 18-inch pipe would be required. There is none of this available in the city: and it was selling at a very high price. The change would also mean new connections while the change was being made. the opinion of the city engineer that the building could be easily placed to one side.
