DAILY EDITION. ved Ps She I lav. January 30, 1920. Jail Accommodation For Detained Women. ‘ The activity of the Wonrei’s Auxiliary of the Central Labor Gouncil in regard to jail accommodation for women deserves all praise. There is no proper accommodation here, and the sug- gestion that ifs provision is a matter for the provincial the mark. It i the’ duty a loekup for the city, although it is also v of s not of authorities to provide authorities the provincial is perhaps the's duty to provide for those offering outside the city. At Vie- toria the provincial jail, a very costly and extensive establishment erected by the late government, was closed soon after the present government came into power, in order to save expense, and the city lockup used there by the provincial authorities, the Goy- ernment paying for the accommodation in each case. There is great need here for a temporary lockup for female prisoners, and il is the duty of the city to provide it. Visiting editors Should See District.
