TWO VICTORIA BOYS ON ALASKAN VOYAGE Will Sail North to Alaskan Penin- sula on Fur Expedition; Ex- pected Here any Day. The little three-ton gas boat Undine is expected to arrive here any day on one of the longest and most hazardous voyages ever at- tempted by a vessel of its size on this coast. The Undine is navigated by two Victoria boys, Jack Uhadwick and I’. L. Cousins, who intend to trade with the I@dians in furs and do a little shooting and trapping as well. | Originally constructed as an open fishing boat, the Undine has | been remodelled and refitted by) her new owners. A cabin has been | built in and a new twenty horse | power engine setup. Gasoline in| sullicient quantities to bring the | boat to Prince Rupert was stored | away in her two tanks before} leaving Victoria. Both Chadwick and Cousins have had long experience in fur trading, and they do not propose to returm south until they have loaded their boat down with as many pells as it can carry. They will probably be in the north six months as the course laid out leads right up the coast to the Alaskan Peninsula. Many stops will be made en route. “FULL OF PEP” FINE MELODRAMATIC LAY Full of Pep,” the Metro play vhieh Hale Hamilton enacts the leading role, will be the fea- ture at the Westholme Theatre tonight. It is the story of Jimmy Baxter, 1 dynamie young American, -who is commissioned to deliver a eargo of munitions to a South American vepublic, The country is in a state of rebellion and to get the cargo to its rightful own- ers demands some strategy. Jimmy determines to pose as a patent medicine agent and with this idea in view puts” several cases of “pep” in his cargo of weapons. How he smuggles the munitions into the country, quells the rebellion and falls in love with the dark-eyed daughter of| the president are incidents which go to make a play of daring and romance that is reminiscent of the gripping stories of pirate days. There are other features on the program. A Keystone comedy, | “Walking the Dog,’ is one of them and there is also a B. C. Gazette. JOSEPH LIKELY HUNGARIAN KING Elections in that Country were Strongly Royalist; Communists Not Persecuted. (Special via G, T. P, Telegraphs.) BUDAPEST, Feb, 3.—The trial of terrorists has begun here, Count Apponyi declares that the communists are not being perse- cuted. Only 27 extremists have| been executed for murder to date although the communists were responsible for the deaths of sev- eral thousand persons. The resignation of Archduke Joseph as king by the Hungarian Assembly is probable as a result of the recent elections at which there was a strong royalist vote. It is a company of individuals, each of whom has expressed determination to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and God, to ac- cept His teachings and follow His example. The Active Christians Those who persist in the Way find their lives radiant with hope. They have an object in living. They are not plunged into hope- less misery by bereavement. They develop character. They learn con- tentment. Being themselves men of hope and good-will, they are centres of hope and good-will in the world. The Inactive Christians Not all continue faithful. Many neglect to keep the Pattern before them. They cease to pray. They forego public worship. They become only nominal Christians. Their sympathies are on the side of Right, but they miss the full-orbed peace that comes from being obedient to the Heavenly vision. Aiding the Enemy Apart from their own loss, lukewarm Christians do positive harm tc the Faith. Enemies never cite the lives of notable Chris- tians as a proof of the inefficiency of the Church, or of the Gospel it proclaims. If, therefore, all lukewarmness should dis- appear the critics of Christianity would be confounded. Where Do You Stand? You are a Christian. Are you ardent or careless? Are you whole-hearted or half- hearted? Do you realize that the Church in Canada faces unprecedented respo:isibilities? ou believe that the Gospel of Christ is a perfect solvent of selfishness and class-hos- tility.
