One of the local clergymen was asked for a short editorial article on the Forward Movement. He has summarized it as follows :— The Forward Movement, as far as Canada is concerned, has this great feature, that five Protestant churches are seeking to hridge the denominational chasms of bygone days and are work- ing at the same time with the same methods for the same purpose, the logical outcome of which is the One Big Union of Protest- antism. The Forward Movement is a call to prayer; church members hereafter must be a praying people. The restoration of the family allar is one of the cornerstones of the campaign. The Forward Movement is a pledge to service; even as Uhrict woiked for olhers so must those who bear His name. ‘lhe Chuech is calling upon her sons and daughters to do the work that other organizations leave undone, rhe Forward Movement emphasizes the stewardship of life and possessions. Our life is not our own; we are not consulted either as to its beginning or its end, and if there be no higher tulure then we are the playthings of a malignant devil and not the oifspring of a benignant God. Taking the highest view of life—-and no one is ever justified in taking any lower—the church is again siressing the highest prerogatives of humanity from the standpoin! that life and talents belong not to ourselves but to a Supreme God, Hence this week in Canada the members and ai- herents of Protestantism will raise the sum of eleven million dollars as a minimum gift towards the betterment of the world; and the .Church will be able to announce from her pulpits to- morrow that thousands of young men and women are willing to be equipped to go wherever they may be sent as teachers, minis- ters, doctors, nurses, deaconesses and social service workers generally, that the world may be won for Christ. Catch the vision! Follow the gleam! Serve the Man of Galilee. Valentine Day Being Celebrated. In view of the fact-that there are so many men in this town the following beautiful poem by Morte H. Craig is used in place of editorial in commemoration of Valentine’s Day:— A KLONDYKE VALENTINE. Tonight as I sit in the Klondyke vale My fancy takes ‘light over river and rail To where in those halcyon days gone by We were together, you and T, ; And I find myself wishing to God that you In your, far away home under skies of blue, Oftcn think of the boy who so longs for the sight Of your beautiful eyes— And your kisses tonight I light my tobacco, its powers invoke, And presto! your astral shines out of the smoke, A face of sweet beauty, a form of rare grace, Half hidden by billows of shadowy lace. You hover about me, O vision divine, And your dear, dreamy soul passes quickly to mine. So I sit here and silently long for the sight Of your beautiful eyes— And your kisses tonight A rich yellow perfume, while memories roll, Brings the flavor of age to the wine in my soul; You fill up the glass, dainty sweetheart of mine, And I feel like a man who is drunken with wine. Your soft gentle voice pulses down thro’ the air And I thrill with the thought that it murmurs a prayer— A prayer for the boy who so longs for the sight Of your beautiful eyes— And your kisses tonight On the breast of your astral, oh, lady of mine, Let me pin with a nugget my heart’s valentine! That the gold in the Klondyke in naught can compare With the velyety meshes of gold in your hair. The wine of your breath and the touch of your hand Seals my senses in sleep in this shadowy land. I slumber, and sleeping I long for the sight Of your beautiful eyes- And your kisses tonight DENTISTRY At a price you can afford to pay es Your Teeth Examined Today.
