DAILY EDITION. —_———— Irish Situation Is Getting Worse. . The situation in Ireland seems to be getting worse. This is the time when legislation affecting Ireland is being put through the British Parliament, so doubtless the outrages have somewhat Once the Home Rule Bill is passed They cannot get of a political significance. and goes into operation things may improve. worse at any rate, without some stringest action being taken. Air Force for This Country. If there is to be a military force at all in this country, there must be an air force, for the late war made it clear that the air force was one of the most impertant of all in the conduct of the various campaigns. The country that controls the air is likely to win. It seems as if there should be a close relationship between the military and civil cepartments of aerial navigation. The men who are actually flying would be the first called upon in case of need. For that reason it would seem as if every encouragement should be given to the teaching of aeronautics and of interesting people generally in air navigation. Whether the proposed action of the Dominion will do this is not yet clear, Order of Bath Is Very Important. The order of the bath is not as common as it might be in this country. People do not bathe regularly enough, either for ‘heir own health or for the pleasure of others. It is very de- sireable to keep in good condition.- For people who wish to associate with others it is just as necessary that there shall be no sweat odors, that may be objectionable. It may be thought that this is imagination and yet ior those with an acute olfactory sense there is nothing more objectionable than close association with those who fail te bathe. Church Music is Improving. . The effect of the recent revival of music in this city is seen in the improvements to some of the church choirs. Efforts are being made by most of the city churches to keep in line with the spirit of the times and to provide music of a high character. li is a most commendable spirit and is bound to bear fruit in increased church attendance. Any Waste is a National Crime. sig Lady Askwith in a speech in England recently said that the cost. of living was driving the life out of the people of England. She could see a great deepening in the eyes of both the men and women as they scrimped and saved to buy the children’s boots. Was this necessary? If the saving was to pay for the war there was not a woman in England who would not pinch to pay it olf. If it was for the disabled soldiers they would give every penny up for them; but if the wealth of the nation was to be wasted by anybody it was time to interfere. Since women had got the vote all the younger members of Parliament were terrified of losing their seats. Women must use their power to stop waste and limit high prices. There were two sorts of waste they had to stop. One was the waste in their own homes; every crumb of bread wasted was an absolute crime. The second was Govern- ment waste, such as that revealed in the report of the Committee of National Expenditure. These things had resulted in the waste of men’s happiness, children’s chances, and women’s lives. DENTISTRY Dr. Jos. Maguire Rooms: 7 @& 8 Smith Block Member of B.C.
