Johnson, manager of the Cold Storage plant, it was decided by the Board of Trade last night to invite the members of the Cana- dian Fisheries Association to visit Prince Rupert when on their way to the big convention at Vancou- ver. Mr. Johnson offered the co-operation of his concern in entertaining them. It was decided that an invitation should be forwarded at once. SHOULD HAVE OWN BOAT FOR SERVICE That Is Suggestion of F. G. Daw- son in Regard to Surf Inlet Business. “We shall not get any service until we put on our own boat to Surf Inlet.’ That was an ex- pression used by F. G. Dawson last night when the reply of the Union Steamship Co. was received last night, saying that the 8.8. Chilliwack would carry freight~to Surf Inlet whenever a car load !ot was offering. The coal field on which several excellent reports are available, including such engineers as Thos. Falcon and Robert W. Hunt & Co. of Chicago, is equally extensive and covers 12,5v. acres. Suflici- ent development has already been carried on to prove at least 12,- 000,000 tons of bituminous cok- ing coal equal to any coal on the coast. The facilities for the erec- tion of a blast furnace plant and auxiliaries in the immediate vi- cinity of Prince Rupert can hard- ly be sunpassed on the Pacific coast, especially since unlimited quantities of high grade magne- tite ore can be secured here from adjacent points to blend with the softer and porous limonites from the Copper River district. And be it furnther resolved that a copy of this resolution accompany tlie petition and that it-be mailed to Hon. T. D. Pattullo, Hon. Alex. Manson, and the Hon. Wm. KKK ER PRINCE RUPERT TIDES * CRKHK EK EK KK RE RH HS The time used is Pacific Stan- dard, for the 120th Meridian west. It is counted from 0 to 24 hours, from midnight to midnight. The table given is for Port Simpson but the time for Prince Rupert varies only a few minutes on some days and on others is the same. The range of the tide inay be computed as 5 per cent greater at Prince Rupert than at Port Simpson both at springs and neaps.
