An amend- ment introduced by A. R. Mc- Master, Liberal member for Boone, which would prohibit con- tributions by any but private in- dividuals and then effect the pub- lication of all such contributions, was also defeated without a vote. MecMasters’ resolution brought out the first really spirited fight of the session, farmer members from the western provinces figur- ing largely in the list of speakers. INVERNESS CANNERY IS TO BE REBUILT No Official Announcement But It is General Understanding that- Work will Proceed. While no official announcement has been made, it is understood that the Inverness cannery is to be rebuilt at once and canning will proceed as usual this season. RK. G. FELL FROM WINDOW VANCOUVER, April 13.—Evi- dently walking in his sleep, Colin C, MacLénnan, manager of the Dunsmuir Hotel, fell out of a bathroom window of the hotel and suffered injuries which re- sulted in his death. He was a native of Prince Edward Island. The fire department had a call to Ninth Avenue West yesterday at noon when a small shack oc- cupied by a man named McLeod caught fine near the stove. The damage was slight, the blaze soon being extinguished.
