The shingle mill of the Charlotte Islands Spruce Products,
Limited, at the dry dock commenced operations last week and
is now running full swing with an output of fifty thousand cedar
shingles daily. Two shingle machines are running and twenty—
five men are engaged.

One scowload of logs has already arrived from near Port
Clements, Graham Island, in tow of the Grand Trunk tig Lorne
aud another scowload is on the way. The company is making
an effort to bring shingle bolts from Terrace where good cedar

VANCOUVER, May 11.—-The British Columbia coast stewards’

led for eight o'clock this morning did not materialize. It is
derstood that negotiations for a conciliation board are pro-
ding.

The firemen’s strike will tie up the last G.T.P. boat, the
nee Rupert, on the completion of the round trip from Stewart
Seattie and Vancouver, which is due here this afternoon.

The Bakers’ strike seems to be fizzling out. Deliveries of
