DAILY EDITION. antiga Wednesday, June 23, £920. - — —— —— Splendid Work of \ ¢ Hospital Auxiliary. The annual report of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Prince Rupert General Hospital hardly conveys to the ordinary person the correct idea of what the women have done for the hospital during the past year. It shows that a large amount of money has heen raised and that an immense number of articles have been provided for the use of the patients and the staff of the institu- tion. Whatit fails to tell is of the vast amount of parmstaking work done by, the president, Mrs. MeClymont, and the ofticers and members of the society. % The articles nientioned in the report were all made hy mem- bers of the Auxiliary from material purchased with the money raised. Anvorle who knows anything about prices must be aware of the hundreds, possibly thousands, of, dollars saved to ihe hospital by h ig this work donated. Monday at th that for many a dxy, hospital and on other occasions, and the result has been It was a task which was not spectacular and in which there was no glory, but there must be a feeling of satis- faction wv work well done: The ladies are very modest over their work. They do not advertise themseives, but the Davis News is akte tovvouch for the great value of the work they have ercomplished and glad to make this acknowledgement. More Ship Contracts. : . It is to be hoped that if there are ship awarded, this point will be considered. from time lo time taking up the matfer with thé Dominion Gov- ernment and it S¢ems as if the present proposal of the backing of the shipbuilders’ notes by the Government would meet the case. Not that a shut down is likely. It, seems pretty sure that Mr. Erb expects to secure more contracts or he would not have gone as far as he has. It is hardly to be expected that the two ships on the stocks can pay for the plant which has been jnstaliéd as well as making dividends for the builders.
