THE PRODUCER That competition is the life of a farming community is amply demonstrated at’ the third Prince Rupert Exhibition. This year, in spite of dull times and financal stringency, the farmers of the interior and of the islands show that they have devoted more time and energy than ever before, in their ef- forts to show what can be pro- duced in Northern B. C. The exhibits are of a_ standard which not only reflects great credit on the producers, but speak volumes for the climate and conditions under which they were produced. The pioneers who are today bringing the wilderness into a state of cultivation are empire builders of the highest type; they are the trail-breakers for a huge army of northern farm- ers, who will ultimately con- quer wild nature and guide it into channels of usefulness and wealth. Their calling does not carry with it the glory of the leader of battalions, but it is being demonstrated in Europe today that the feeder of battal- ions is just as important as the leader. to the men who are opening up new aven- ues of production in this last instead of waiting chance turn of soil All honor great west, idly for the some market.
