This decision was come to at the meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday afternoon in the new police court. There was a good deal of conversational discussion on the subject, and Mr. C, V. Bennett advised the Board on a number of points that were ten- tatively touched upon. Remember June 6th As a result of the discussion President D. G. Stewart suggested that the meeting should fix the evening of Tuesday, June 6th, for the general meeting of the associa- tion to go into the revision of the by-laws. The meeting will be called for 8 p.m. on that day, and will be held in the new police ‘OUR SODA | FOUNTAIN. IS OPEN FOR ‘11 Pure Ice Cream with all §the “‘Fixins’’ tes: tO os 1 C. H. Require $4000 In order to carry on the work of the Hospital at present the sum of $4000 in ready cash is required, and the Board has au- thorised the borrowing of this sum through the Union Bank which has been approached on the mat- ter. The bonds relating to the hospital property are lodged with the bank as collateral, and the following information as to the hospital finances is furnished the bank manager for forwarding to the head office before the branch here can negotiate the loan. AI- ready the sum of $6000 has been borrowed. To make up $10,000 required by the hospital another $4000 is needed, and the hospital can count on coming assets thus: Outstanding subscriptions $3,454.- 30, Outstanding fees $1,505.10, B. C. Government Grant due quarterly, first quarter now due $1,058.10. Besides which the city has promised $5,060. ‘ With this information furnished for his Head- quarters to consider, Mr. Brod- erick of the Union Bank here, is confident that the loan will be forthcoming. Honorary President Some talk was engaged in yes- terday on the subject of the suggested appointment of an hon- orary president with voting powers in Board matters. This is a question still to be decided, though President D. G. Stewart in- clined to the opinion that the Board favors this appointment. is also discussed the appointment of a nurse probationer which is not approved by the Matron or the medical fraternity at the pres- ent stage of the hospital’s history There are thirteen patients at present in the wards, and the institution is thriving says the Assistant Secretary.
