A dozen officers, specially chosen from the men at Valcartier, passed through the city last night on the way to Western Canada to recruit men for the second regiments. These officers were on their way to points from Winnipeg tu Vancou- ver. y Sergeant Armstrong, of Red Deer, informed The Globe that they would try to gather as many men as possible during the next few weeks to make up the 19,000 for the second contingent.
