The secretaries of the National Association of Marine Engineers state that they are ready at any time to meet the Consolidated Whaling Corporation with a view to bringing about a settlement. The wages asked for by the engineers in Victoria, they point out, is less than paid to American engineers employed by the company under identical conditions. The following schedule is given showing the difference in ths .wages paid American and Canadian engineers employed by the company on whaling vessels: American rate: Chief, $225 per month; second, $200, for season.
