Its value to the community was then demonstrated. Under the able training of the leader, Robert Greenfield, it has stead- ily improved until today it is an organization of which the city may well be proud. Tomorrow the band is giving an entertainment for its own benefit, the only pay it gets. Doubtless it will get good support. The humorist for the evening is to be Jack Dough- erty and there will be a number of other interesting fea- tures, Anything Prince Rupert can do for the band will be well repaid in services rendered. DAILY EDITION DR. TOLMIE’S POSITION Judging by the despatch which came throtigh Saturday Premier Tolmie’s great idea is to keep T. D. Pattullo out. He has had a great time keeping his followers togethe:’ and this is the lash he wields: “If you want to elect Duff Pattullo put straight Conservative candidates in the field.” It is not exactly the language of the statesman but it seems « LO go in some quarters. tT t is satisfactory to learn that an election will be held in the spring and, no matter whether the Conservatives eall themselves whta they are or hide under the pseudonym of Unionists, there will be a great fight. They seem deter- mined to go into the fight backed by a P. G. E. settlement scheme which is expected to put to rout all the dissentient hordes. Tolmie will fight with his back to the wall and Pat- tullo will make his debut as leader at a general election. It will be a stirring time and politicians are already champ- ing at the bit in their anxiety to engage forces.
