In four words this fact JOHN faces the public of British Columbia and the supporters of the Coalition Government have to decide if they are go;ng to continue with this form of government or whether the two old-line parties wish to return to their original partisanship and face the electorate divided against the C.C.F. There is no gainsaying the fact that John Hart and his Coalition cabinet have given this province good government in fact, the best government British Columbia has had for years and it is now up to members of both parties to decide whether or not they are going to continue this form of government. It is our belief that the Coalition must continue in office, not only for the sake of the interests of the province as a whole, but in the interests of democracy, and there must remain in British Columbia a form of government which appeals to the majority of the general public and not to those minorities whose belief and thoughts are directed towards the socialization of our industries and which are propounded more or less in countries whose ideologies are contrary to the opinions of Brjtish Columbia people. While it is premature to say who will be the leader of the government to succeed Mr. Hart, it is perhaps not idle to conjecture fhat it must at least be a man of substance and with all the powers of leadership. Party affiliations, therefore, must be disregarded and efforts made to find a man, the right man, who can safely be entrusted with that leadership. A convention will be called at a later date to decide who will lead the Liberal party in B.C., and this, of course, is a matter entirely independent of who will be the leader of the government in office at Victoria. There must be no doubt about selecting a worthy successor to Mr. Hart, a man who has carried out the duties of premier during a trying time, and who, in his years of elderly statesmanship, may be now allowed to rest On his laurels. Whatever happens, whether the new leader be a Liberal or Conservative, the Coalition must "be held together, and in face of the destructive fortes getting intb power, which is not only a remote possibility but a very serious one, all those who favor having democracy in our midst must unite and drive back the onslaught which will undoubtedly be made wheirthe next general election comes upon us an election which may come at any time and for which we must be prepared; Here's sweeter, tastier bread if I wi th FLEISCHMANN'S FRESH IT'S FULL STRENGTH so it goes fi'ght to work. O) First steps in a large-scale planned research o migratory birds are taking place in this area where ornithologists of the United States Wild Life Service, with headquarters in Washington, are inspecting duck and goose bags of sportsmen. Some 20 inspection stations are to be established along the route of the flocks feeding into the Mississippi flyway and the first of these stations, manned by Arthur S. Hawkins of Minnea- ' polls, is in this district. Haw-Iklns has been examining birds since the start of the hunting season. In addition to hLs present work, he has completed a survey of duck breeding grounds in the Saskatchewan delta breeding regions east of The Pas and reports from his summer's work that breedings of ducks are lower even than last year which is the lowest recorded. He believes that fowl were forced further north than usual this season because of spring flooding in the Saskatchewan marshes but that, barring repe tition of this for several years, the change is only temporary. So far, his survey of game bags shows 15 young birds taken for each oldster and he explains that the younger fowl often leaves for southern climes earlier than their parents, wan dering all over the flyway in stead of following a true course like their elders. BLOEMFONTEIN, South. Africa W The recovery of a man who was found shot through the palate, the bullet toming out of the top of his head,, is puzzling Bloemfohtein doctors.
