(174) MACHINERY TO SAW better lumber more economically, use the modern and up-to-date type National Portable Sawmills, manufac tured by National Machinery Company Limited, Vancouver, B, C, (tf) Today in General Motors Lead League Defeat Co-op 7-5 in Hard- Fought Fastball Game With the scores tied at the end of the fourth and then General Motors taking the lead until Co op regained it in the first of the seventh, the City Fastball game last evening was a nip-and-tuck fight. The General Motors stored four in their half of the seventh and were able to hold off a last inning rally by the opposition and finally win 7-5. The win puts the molormen at the head of the league although, they have played two, games fewer than the Co-op who are now tied with CNRA in second place. As these last two teams meet in the second of Wednesday evening's double bill, the match should produce a great battle. W. Smith scored for Co-op after he was walked as was Bellis. Don Arney's two-bagger brought Smith in but Ward was out on a hard hit ball to Ivanco' at third and the latter stepped on third base to make a neat double play unassisted and retire the side. Ward scored Coop's second run In. the fourth when he hit a two-bagger and came home on Slater's single A double play in the fifth when Windle caught Ward's fly and threw to Ivanco who got Smith off third base stopped a Co-op rally. Two runs were scored in the seventh when Postulo was walked.. Bellis hit safely and Don Arney hit a two-baggei Arney was caught In a hot box between third and' home and wan out. Postulo got the last Co-op run in the seventh after a safe single and an error by Holkestad Pavlikis hit a good double h: the second but a double play by Ward who took Ivanco's fly and stepped on third cauaht; Pavlikis off base and the side! was out. Two runs came home in the third when Vuckovich was safe on, an error by Smith end later scored on Dominato single. Yelland was guilty of, an error and .Dominate came-home. Ted Arney scored the third run for the motormen when he doubled and came home on Postulo'a fumble. A double play when Smith took Windle's fly and tcssed to Yelland caught Domln-ato at second. The seventh was the "lucky seventh" for General Motors. Dominato was safe on an, error Windle hit a safe two-bagger Lindsay followed with another two-bagger. Pavlikis and Lam-b!e hit singles and four runs were in. Slater walked two in the eighth but Smith took Tea Arney's fiy. Later he tossed to Don Arney at first to get Windle and then Slater forced Lindsay to fly out to Don Arney for the final out. Fielding Fastball Features Each team brought off two double plays, three of them at third base. It was good ball-plavlne. Dominato struck out six, walk ed three, allowed eleven hits' Pavlikis with two out of four; including a two-bagger, and Ted Arney with two out of five, in eluding, a- two-bagser, were the best batsmen. Windle also had o two-baggei, but this usually :afe fielder committed two errors. General Motors had nine men left on bases; , For Co-op, Slater struck out only two, gave three walks and allowed ten hits. Three- errors by Smith at shortstop and one J each by Postulo and Yelland were cuaasnuus. oiuirr lea in ine batting, hitting safely three times out ot four- Ward, with two out of four times at bat and including a. two-Dagger, along with Don Arney with, three hits-out of five times at bat, Including two two-baggers and a single were the batting stars.
