Salute to Our Veterans . . . RUPERT will join with all Canada on Tuesday, November PRINCE 11, in honoring her men and women who marched away to two World Wars and gave of themselves, even their lives, that we might remain a free people in a free nation. , Many of our gallent soldiers, sailors and airmen did not return to enjoy the rights for which they fought but they live and will continue to live in our hearts and memories. As we wear a little blood-red poppy and stand with bowed head lor two minutes at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, we will be humbly thanking those who paid the Supreme Sacrifice and pledging ourselves anew to work with our returned Heroes to make this a better Canada in which to live. November 11, anniversary of the ending of the First World War, become even more significant when we also think in terms of the war which followed It. For each war is always bigger and more tragic than the last. We can create no more fitting memorial to all our war dead and our living heroes than the preservation of this world as a peaceful world and the creation of a bigger and better Canada. Prince" Rupert is rightfully proud of the part she played In both wars and is grateful. for the magnificent contributions of her men and women who donned uniforms to carry the fight against the foe. Eut it is not enough to buy poppies and gather at the Cenotaph once a year. Our doty to our Veterans and ourselves is to help those of sound body. to reap the benefits of their great service and. particularly, to assist those crippled and maimed to find gainful employment tandem honored place in our community. partially disabled VefeYans Should be encouraged for they are capable of handling many and varied jobs. Thousands in this Dominion are proving this fact every day. It remains, therefore, for us in Prince Rupert and district to encourage still others to do the same. Our interest in their welfare will give them new-faith in themselves and new strength. Thy have done their duty nobly and well. Our duty to them is clear. We cannot hope to match their devotion and service to us BUT WE CAN TRY. Prince Rupert! Let us stand in silent tribute for two minutes In honor of our glorious Fighting Forces and then let us go forward, arm in arm with our Veterans, to a bigger and brighter day.
