PAGE SIX WESTHOLME THEATRE Wednesday and Thursday, 7 and 9 p.m. "WHY MEN LEAVE HOME" An adaptation of Avery Hopwood's stage success. A clever satire mi -modern married life. A drama that will smooth out many a marital wrinkle. A picture that sweethearts and newly-weds should not miss. I'll teach you how to handle 'em, how to dandle 'em, and how to keep 'em safe nt home. Full oT laughs, it illustrates that there can 1h no eight hour shift in marriage when love demands a twenty-four hour day. To some men a woman is like a street car. They cease the chase after they have caught it. 'When courling he hunts for excuses to see her; when married he invents excuses to get away from her. Come and loam how lo put the chains on skidding husbands. Lewis Stone, Helene Chadwlck, Sidney Bracy, Mary Carr, William V. Mong, Howard Truesdell, Alma Bennett, Lila Leslie and strong cast. ( THORNTON ON PEACE RIVER Head of National Railways Sees Need of Railway But Will Not Discuss Detail Headiins me cuy nl & p.m. from the Pence Hiver and Grande Prairie country, Sir Henry Thorn ton and his party of Canadian National ltuilway officials left at midnight for Lalpary on their special train, says the Kdmonlon Journal. Asked on arrival by the Jour nal what he thoiishl of the Peace Hiver country, Sir Henry waxed enthusiastic. 'That's the finest country I ever was in," he der elared, "and when the country se cures adequate- transportation facilities it is going lo be a worhlbeater." "1 can't tell you anything about 'he possible relief which tho torlh country may pel. I've seen the country, and I've realized from my visit, and from contact with the splendid settlers nil along the route, thai there must he facilities afforded for the carrying out of the products of this wonderfully fertile area, but beyond that, atdhe present lime. I cannot go." Sir Henry could say nothing as to the relative merits of tho various proposals which have been put forward from time to time, thoush there were undoubtedly benefits lo be secured from all the alternatives submitted, either for a railway north or south of the Peace to tidewater, or through the suggested Hrule cutoff. Monkman Pass The Monkiiiau Pass route as an alternative lo the Wapiti Pass was touched upon, Sir Henry slating that he has been told of this latest alternative while in the north country. The route would undoubtedly be given consideration along with the others, though Sir Henry staled that he knew little of its possibilities personally beyond whal little information he hod received when on his north trip. He referred lo the forthcoming conference between the railways, the federal governinul, and the provincial governments of Albcr-la'and lirilish Columbia, where the whole question of an outlet lo tidewater for the Peace Hiver country would he thoroughly canvassed, and slated his opinion that whatever solution was finally agreed upon it would bo no halfhearted measure, but a real service which would not only bo Dnfplc for all present requirements of this great country, but would be fully capable of expansion In suit the growth which would aeerue with the coming of railway facilities. Has Done Good Undoubtedly this north trip of the National Lines' president ha done the north a lot of good. Sir Henry is an enthusiastic aposlle for the norlhland, and he will undoubtedly go the limit in hacking any reasonable proposal to provide the Peace Itiver country with its outlet to the coast.
