The first shipments oT grain to the government elevator at Edmonton were taken in last week, Ihus avoiding the $200 per day penally which became effective in case the clevalor was not ready o take in grain. Cars were brohghl from the Gillespie Grain Company's ele vator and will be used only for testing the shales upon which I he grain is weighed. It will be probably two weeks yet before actual shipments of grain will be made to the elevator for or dinary purposes. The machinery has all been installed ,and all concrete for the construction has been poured except for the completion of the work on a dryer building at the rear, which is lo be used for drying grain. There only remains a small amount of brick work Mo bu com. plcled and a general cleaning u; around the big plant, and in very short time the wheels of the huge industry will be turning smoothly.
