CITY WANTS WATERFRONT Would Build Floats and Wharves for Convenience of Fishermen and Public Generally The city is desirous of build ing floats and wharves for the convenience of the fishermen and the public generally and the minister of lands is to be writ ten willi a view to obtaining the necessary waterfrontagc in the vicinity of Cow Hay. A report to this effect from the Board of orks was adopted at last night's council mealing. After the report had been read, Aid. Collart expressed the opin ion that it was no use asking the provincial government for walerfronlage at Cow Bay as it had none there except that which was already in use. The railway company owned the rest. reported is being transferred son JIr Aid. McMordie thought Aid. Collart was mistaken. Certain walerfronlage was to be turned over to the provincial govern ment, he had been told, and the city was o receive some for the purpose desired. Mayor Newton urged that some move be made in the direction of getting the waterfrontagc for the purpose outlined in the report. It had been talked of for many years. In communicating witli tile minister of lands, a start would at least be made in ascer taining what was. available. Aid. Collart felt that the railway company should be approached inslead of the provincial government. II was finally decided to adopt Hie report and communicate with .1 lie minister of lands.
