This is Exhibition week and Prince Rupert, people are asked to unite to make it a great success. Already there are many visitors in the city and many inoYe are coming. It is the annual event which indicates what sort of people there are in the city. Many citizens have been giving a great deal of time to making arrangements for the fair and all they ask is that people here make it the first thing for this week only. Let everything else be subordinate to the fair. King Will Never Come Say Perennial Grousers. The perennial grousers said when they heard Premier Mackenzie King was coming west that he would never come here. They also said the work on the road would stop as soon as the .election was over. The same people are saying there is going to be a terribly dull time here this winter because of the close season in halibut. The perennial grouser is a person to be ignored. Don't believe hun. He is seldom right. Once now ami then of course he is bound to be lucky and have a chance to gloat over some prophecy which has come true, but as a rule be is wrong. The perennial grouser is saying we shall never have an ele vator, that the town will never amount to anything, that the railway is killing business, that ships will not be built here. He is never enjoying himself unless he is seeing dull times ahead. Give the grouser tfie gate. Let, him have the merry ha, ha, He is no good to the city or to himself. No need to tell him he is useless. He knows that himself. Just let him-know that you do not want to listen to his gibberish. Complaints About Liquor Ana Gambling. The Daily News has received complaints that there is liquor selling and gambling going on at various places on Third Avenue Chinese lotteries are said to be conducted and tickets sold open ly. We know nothing about the truth or untruth of this matter but as this is fair week we should like to see the city kept as clean as possible, especially while the' visitors are here. Those who are here for the fair will get a poor opinion of Prince Ru pert if they see the law broken on our main thoroughfare. It is difficult for the police to attend to everything. The force is small and there is always extra work to do at a time like this Possibly the commissioners will arrange for extra ojuistables for the few days when the city is crowded. Loss Is Theirs If Publicity Not Received. If through failure to notify this paper, reports of events are not forthcoming, the loss is to the organization failing to report This paper tries to keep in touch with all civic activities but once now and then, through no fault -of ours, something is overlooked The loss is not ours but theirs.
