Canning of Hio riroviiicial police at Smithers is given in Hie Interior News just lo hand vhi6h says: Smithers was shocked in a horrifying manner when on Friday evening the news went around that C. C Canning, who until the day previous had been on the provincial police force, had ended his life. Financial trouble, coupled witli the loss of his position, are thought to have been Hie motive behind the rash act, so ileliberately planned and so thoughtfully carried into execution.
