In The fokimo murder trial at Aklavik, on the della of thu Mackenzie River, has been postponed' indellnitely, because of weather conditions in the Arctic, and when Judge Duliuc and the judicial parly will return to the outside" is a mailer f conjec ture perhaps next week, per haps next month! Navigation is not yet open in the Arctic Ocean, anil as a con sequence the Mounted Police patrol boat cannot gel around the coast from Coronation gulf to Aklavik with the witnesses necessary to the trial, ami so die judge and his court with the F.skimo prisoner must wait at Aklavik until belter weather permits water travel. Has Been Held a Year. Last year, because of the pres ence or ice in I He Arctic for lite entire summer, navigation was difficult and dangerous, and for this reason the prisoner now at Aklavik readied Herschel Island loo later for last year's trials (when two of the natives were sentenced to dealb and hanged and bad to be held by the northern detachment of the Hoyal Canadian Mounted Police a year. Two years ago no vessels were able to get beyond Herschel Island, because of the ice; all the trailers in. the eastern Arctic were unable to communicate with the island and the entire trade of the Far North was tied up. There is a possibility that the same thing may occur this year, and for these reasons (lie trial and the return of the judicial parly is uncertain. FAMOUS ALASKAN INDIAN CHIEF DEAD JUNEAU, July 25. Keen riv alry that has existed between the It. C. pilots, independent pilots ami the Vancouver pilot-will likely be more intense when two new speedboats, being constructed for the It. C. pilots and the Vancouver pilots are launched next week. Moth vessels vill cost approximately ?C,000. Although both speedboats are of altogether dilTerenl types there is a similarity between the hulls. Moth are of the niodilled V design. The Cuckoo, the Van couver pilot's new boat, although carrying the modified V bull feature also has die Hand type hull incorporated. The stern of both (vessels are of the runaway lyne. while the draft of the two boats are about the same. Only three feel of water is drawn by both boats. The II. C. pilot boat is (5 feel long with a 9-fool beam and approximately HI Ions weight. A six-cylinder 300 horse power aero-inarine engine has been installed. The fuel tanks will carry 300 gallons of gasoline. With an engine oT 150 horse power the Cuckoo is expected to average at least 20 knots an hour. The Cuckoo has been so lightly const ructed that it was considered unwise to instal a more powerful engine. The Cuckoo is forty feet in lengll, with a nine-fool beam and a minimum two and a half-foot draft. Slit is much lighter than the 'other craft, being of eight tons gross. WEEK END SPECIALS.
