' Lord Hyng had accepted the invitation of the Smithers council to motor over from Telkwa to here, and he and his party were met at thai town and brought over in two cars driven by Hilly Orchard and Hubert Harnett and thus were enabled to get a different impression of the possibilities of this valley from that obtained when just travelling through hy rail. The party arrived at Smithers about 10,15 and were met and welcomed by Mayor Orchard, and the citizens en musse al Alfred Park. After the official welcome, Lork Hyng inspected the Hoy Scouts who had turned out. in full force to greet him as also had the school children who were drawn up in two long lines on the green. The citizens were each greeted personally by Lord and Lady Hyng. His Lordship seemed especially pleased to shake hands with Ihe war veter ans, and made inquiries in most eases regarding Iheir services. He found many men who ,had served under him on the battle fields and one had been in his regiment when be was a colonel in the Hoer war.
