The proposal to establish a milk distributing depot nl this city for the farmers of the interior is one which must commend itself to eyerjoue. Pridce Rupert is the nalural m'arket and il , would be a great benefit to the cit to increase its milk Siiply. As explained, for various' reasons the. consumption of fresh milk here i only one fourth of normal. It would be the aim of the farmers lo increase this and not lo put existing milk supply bouses out of business. For some, cause the Vnnderlloof creamerv has proved a fi nancial failure. That tends to discourage the establishment of sniiilkrreamomv, 1 he liu-turyi-of. Ihtv-soulh also is in favor of Hit t'biblUbTnVnf'o.farge receiving depot at the point of ills Irihuljon. That is the .laii adopted in Ihe OJd Country. The only point al issue is as lo how much of the preliniin ary work-houfd be iiudertaken by the Provincial (loveruniciif. At presenl tliey undertake to establisli jTeameries at country points and after a year hand them -over to a local company formed froip among, the -shippers. What is asked is that lliey take similar action in regard to a 'distributing depot here but, that they operate il longer than a year. Coolidge Speech Very Interesting. The addres.s given by President Coolidge on the occasion 6f his inauguration seems. In havu been a most interesting one. While all that was received here was a very short summary, il was sufficient lo indicate, the general trend. The speeeh-was right in line wilb former Premier .Mac-donald of Ureal Britain in his opposition to competitive armaments, and bis advocacy of a world court, and a general policy of friendship and goodwill. In many resperls, too, the speech yo very conservative and sometimes reactionary. It urged continuation of the jwilicy of protective tariffs, expressed opposition lo any form of public ownership, and also opposed the laxinir of big incomes, such, it is to be presumed,. as is done in Canada wuere mere is a sliding cale.
