Those present were C. II. Orme, chairman of the board, Trustee s. I). Johnstone, V. (). Fulton and II. II. Hochest- er. Secretary W. 1). Vance, Miss S. A. Mills, principal of Borden Street school. Miss Huth Slew-art priBOipal of Seal Gove School, D. II, Marines, principal -of lloolli Memorial .school, and Donald lloss, manual training unervisor. Husiness was largely of a routine nature. The principals of the various schools .submitted attendance figures for the opening of the" term, Uiese being similar -to Jhe figures published last week. They were: High School, 135; Borden Street, 28!); Seal Cove, 60; Booth school, 383. Various requests of the principals for supplies and eijui ment necessary were granted. The High School will receive a new flag from the department of education, two new typewriters for the commercial classes and an electric stove for the con venience of teachers remaining on duty during the lunch hour. Equips New Room Equipment for a new room that it has been necessary to open in the Borden street school was ordered purchased. The matter of adequate heating for this room was left over to be looked into more fully by the hoard. At the request of Miss Mills, it was decided to purchase a supply of geographic readers for supplemenjary purposes. Now that the basement is being used for teaching, it was report ed thai reerealion faeilities a Borden street school were very much limited. Mr. Orme slated that plans fpr the new playshed were now in'lhe hands, of Arehi- jlect Cox and it was expected eon- si ruction would start at an early ulnte. The board declined to meet Ibis re- i quest on the ground that it had no authority on Ihe matter as tin parochial school did not come under ils jurisdiction.
