Last suinmer'at Aklavik in the Mackenzie delta, an Eskimo, digging idly in the dust, turned up what appeared lo be a lump of heavy, dirt-encrusted copper Hieuking away he surface earth, he found a number of coins, all liightly parked' together with the verdigris accumulated by many years of exposure. lie passed them on to an Indian in trade, and later, the Indian, travelling south on the A-. t O. V. Railway, sold them to Hrakeniaii Hradburn who was much inleresletl in the find. Mr. Jlradburn cleaned the coins as well us he wus able. They proved lo be some twenty in number principally copper, with a few of silver. All ure of foreign origin, probably Egyptian, and, according to one coin collector lo whom Mr. Jlradburn sold u specimen, ure arounu iwo hundred years old. The most probable assumption as lo how these coins came to have reached this distant corner of the world, is that they were taken in by some member of the crew of an American whaler, years ago, by way of IJehring Strait.
