DAILY EDITION '7C-. "'- - 98 86 Wednesday, .July 15, 1925. City Growth Means Growth Of Country. The -development of the interior agricultural districts, especially the prolific Skeena and Bulkley Valleys, will proceed just as Prince Rupert develops as a shipping port and centre, of population. Once Prince Rupert starts moving in this direction there will he an impetus in the interior. Those people who are now established on farms there will increase the acreage under cultivation and irew farms will lie started. The great city of Vancouver caused this to happen in the Fraser Valley. Prince Rupert's growth will have a similar effect in the interior district contiguous to the city. 1 The fanners of the interior, especially those engaged in the growing of small fruits and vegetables and to a lesser extent those engaged in dairy and stock lines, have suffered in the past through the lack of an adequate market and many of 'them have hoed a hard, row during the past few years. It seems that there' must be a ready local market and Prince Rupert is looked upon as that market. 11 is hoped that the elevator here will establish -the port as a shipping centre. It will bring large vessels here. The pre- ..J II... ..!.. . I II.-.: I. . 1 . It is the agq of thrills. Whatever may be the cause, and many explanations' are made for it, il is apparent that on all hand's people are calling for more excitement.. This desire expresses itself in many different ways some methods to get it being quite legal and proper, others being quite Ihe reverse. The Inmates Treated Less Than In Earlier Days of So vlet Regime MURDER LIGHT OFFENSE life. Criticism is chiefly direct ed at the slender quantity nf food and lack of . outdoor exer cise. - (Inly in the, cases of the most dangerous criminal prisoners are found such thiiiigs as stone' cells, iron bars and solitary confinement. All others, een political prisoners, are given large, well-lighted,' tidy rooms with iron cots, and a single blanket for a covering. In most cases these rtioius are not even -barred,, and the. inmates are free In mingle among themselves. Very little work is provided, and the prison ers, therefore, are free to- in- lulge Iheir hobbies, lo smoke, play car Is, read and have the freest use of musical instruments 'their ovn and other forms of entertainment. So why risk your entire investment by yielding to the temptation to save a fev cents per gallon on the paint you buy? Good paint is always the cheapest. Use Valdura Asphalt Paint and you will be certain of a satisfactory job. Valdura Asphalt Paint Is better than most mineral paints because it is made of one of the rarest minerals known - genuine 99.5 pure Gilsonite natural asphalt - this makes it. an absolutely waterproof preservative paint which possesses great durability. Valdura is also highly acid and alkali resisting. Can be used anywhere, indoors or outdoors, underground or above ground, and will always give perfect protection. - Valdura is'made in glossy Black and rich, deep shades of Red, Browii and Green. It is put up in convenient shed containers from -gallon up; is all ready for use and can be applied by anyone. First cost is low and, based upon cost-per-year-of-tervice, it is cheaper than any other paint made. Distributed by Kalen Hardware Co. and F. E. Hunt Ltd. I week on even the slightest sus picion.
