DK, CAMERON' HAS LARfiF.LY AT- Tt:xnr.i. yestkiuiav The congregation that gathered last night In -the First Presbyterian Church to pay its last respects to the memory of the late Or. Charles J. Cameron. pastor of that, church, was so large that It completely,, filled the spacious pit of the large assembly -place and overflowed Into the galleries. From the complex ion of the gathering It might well have been Judged that many persons had waived their religious adterences ta mourn for a man who had, in a brief space of time, becsm? highly popular and generally esteemed. The service was conducted by Ven. Archdeacon Q A. Rlx of St. Andrew's Anglican Cathed ral assisted by Rev. Oeorge O. Hacker, pastor of the First United Church, from a draped pulpit before which reposed the flower banked casket. The rites were solemn and Impressive. ARrilDEACOV.S ADDRESS In his address Archdeacon Rix referred to the Christian belief of spiritual life and Immortality. The truth that the soul went on after mortal llfe had passed and that there was no spiritual death was but too superficially believed, when It was really a truth that should be a tremendous comfort to those In bereavement. Even though death came there was no break In the spiritual existence. The spirit but left Its earthly tenement and the great personality and wonderful lore went on. There was no death for th. soul had but departed from the weak and frail body to enter upon a new and greater life. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the archdeacon declared, was the greatest example of immortality. . Reviewing the pastors that had served It, the archdeacon declared ' the Presbyterian Church should, have in its membership many fine types of Christianity. The minister for whom the congregation now mourned had been a H. St. O. Lee .assistant maanger of the Bank of Montreal at Calgary, who wtt manager of the branch here for a i number of years, has .een promoted to -Mtltttnt ,n;aaager,.at, .Quebec, .. M. English manager of South Bay Cannery, accompanied by Mrs. English end Mr. Steel the bookkeeper, left oil the last boat for Vancouver. Mr. Eng lish Is expected to return In a similar capacity next year. Miss M. Rudge. Miss B. Rudge and C. Hann of Sandsplt were Skldegate visitors at the week end. Captain B. F. Roberts of Skldegai. proprietor of the Sailor's Rest, left for 'ancouTtr on the last boat where he wiU be married to Mbs E. Sinclair Of that city. He is expected to return In two weeks with his bride and will make his home at Skldegate. "What the Oxen Left Behind" Bill mas admitted to the Queen Charlotte City hospital last week but he is out again. He was thrown something like fifty feet when cutting loose a tree from the cable attached to a donkey engine. C. Valley, skipper of the Omar K and iO. Living his life at concert ' rived home last week. Mr. Leary re- town the fore-part of this week, and pitch, he was a poet in his heart and 'ports a good run of humps came into, has appstnted Vernon Eby agent at the a dramatist by nature. In the East he had occupied some of the most lm-' portant posts the ministry had to o2er and so great was his zeal that it had resulted in a physical breakdown. Becoming a qualified lawyer, his heart was still however in the ministry and ;he could not keep out of the pulpit At length he had,eom to Prince Ru pert and there had. found, amid dl- organization and difficulties. Just such a situation as it would be his choice 'to cope with. He had brought here many fine attributes, among which was as fine a use of the English languaga as had ever been heard in the city and a clear gospel message, the latter of which was. most Important. Though his sojourn In Prince Rupert had been but brief, the people of the city and those of the Prabyterian church particularly were undoubtedly much the better for his short ministry. r.M'Sl'AL EXISTENCE Just as he had lived an unusuaV life, so he had died an unusual death. He had been In harness until the end and that was probably as he would have had It. To her with- whom his life had been so beautifully knit together, would go the entire sympathy of the community. For him there should be no sorrow for he had answered, after a colorful and useful life, the call of ths Great Master to the greater and better life beyond where soon he would be Joined in the great and eternal life by all those who had been near Mid dear to him in earthly being. Rev. G.,0., Hacker read the scripture lesson, and led In' prayer. The choir wal in attendance' and the hymns were "Breathe on Me Breath of Ood," Flght the Good Fight" and "When on My Day of .Life the Night Is Falling." John Z. Davey was organist for the service .while Mrs. H. C. Fraser took the organ for a duet "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" by Mr. Davey and Alex Clap perton. This morning the remains were for warded by the steamer Prince George to Vancouver where interment will take place. Tie pallbearers were J. W. iia Klnley. Thomas McClymont, Oeorge Abbott, W. F.
