Before a fairly good crowd mhos sympathies were good naturedly divided, the local high School basketball team won from Anyox High School In the Exhibition Hall last night by a score of 27 to 18. The Visitors seemed to be lost In the big building and only at time gave evidence of that team play rtilch threatened their opponents. It was then that little Toshl Katsuyama, who seemed to be all over the floor at once, spoiled numerous attempts at team play which certainly must have disheartened the visitors. The game was not one sided and perhaps the result reflect only the state of mind of the players for Anyox thought they could have done better and Rupert did better than expected. The game tonight, however, will perhaps result differently, for Anyox have In MacLachlan and Mac-Donald two players who will bear a lot of watching and the whole team knows how to play basketball if they onre f atarled. THREE OTHER GAMES There were three other games played for the fans and by far the most Interesting was the Senior match between the Elks and Grand Terminals, the Elks meeting their first defeat of the season. Neither teama was up to strength and the Elks suffered further by Balfour's retirement early in the game on account of an accident. Throughout the game play was even and when time was called" the teams 'were tied with 34 points each. At the end of the first overtime period the score was again tied at 38 each. In the final period however, the Terminals were able to add four while the Elks only gained two. The, individual scoring was as follows: , ' INTERMEDIATE I.EAGI E Bankers E. Walters 2. P. Smith. Kelly, a Prince George bowling enthusiast, has given concrete evidence of his Interest In the "roarin1 game' by presenting a handsome silver cup for competition among curlers of the district as far east as Jasper, west as far as curlers can be found and south to Quesnel. The terms of the trophy call for the appointment of trustees to consist of the city solicitor, president of the Prince Oeorge Curltgg Club and the managers of the three Prince George banks. Standing on an ebony mounting and measuring 42 inches high being surmounted with a mini ature curling stone for a cap. the cup Is a handsome trophy. On the face of the cup Is an engraving of a caribou, and on the face of the base is a relief showing a number of players engagei with the game. At either comer of he base are figures of players in the act of delivering stones. After long debate, and despite much opposition, the Lawn Tennis association of England, at its annual meeting. passed a resolution for submission, to the International Lawn Tennis Federa tion, forbidding lawn tennis players to write for or to be interviewed by news' papers In connection with any competl tlon in which they are taking part. Lord Dei borough, the retiring chairman of the association. In supporting the resolution, said the proposal was dut to the fact, that the association found that players were making too much money out of tennis. DANCE LAST NIGHT HONOR BASKETBALL TEAM FROM ANYOX The visiting basketball players from Anyox were entertained at a dance last evening after the game in the I.O.DE hall. The local nigh school students and their friends were hosts and the evening passed off very pleasantly. The music for the dance program waa furnished by an orchestra composed of Kenny Rood, R. Arthur and Miss Jean Currie. The visitors will again meet the local boys tonight at the Exhibition build ing and there will be an exhibition game between two girl teams from1 the local High School Tomorrow on the Cardena the players will return home and it is expected that at least one team from the local High School will go north on December 29 for a series of games in the smelter town. The gymnasium at Anyox has been considerably enlarged this year and to far there have been no league games played. After the New Year it is expected that everything will be in readiness for the regular future, when it 'a hoped to have at least one ladles team go from here for a series of games.
