Ideal growing weather throughout Western Canada during the past week has given the farmers every reason to say, as they are saying In many parts, that prpspects were never better; according to the tenth weekly crop report of the Canadian National Railways. 'Warm rains In suf flclency has forced the growth of tn grain so rapidly that lateness In seeding has been offset and while tn some districts the wheat acreage Is slightly less than last year. Its place Is being taken by coarse grains. In Manitoba wheat Is up as high as ten Inches and Is In the shot blade at some points. Fall rye Is well headed out. Saskatchewan reports wheat up and 20 Inches tall and farmers In the Q'Appelle subdivision between Rejlna and Melville, expect to begin cutting rye about July 15. Summer fallowing is proceeding. Alberta Is most optimistic and expecti bumper crops, HAIL STOUMS Heavy hall storms between Saskatoon and Regtna and Humbolt and North Bat-tleford worked considerable damage, but It Is expected that the crops will recover, although they may be set back. Olrvln reports 85 per cent on approximately 1,000 acrefj. South of Condie, about 2.000 acres were 30 per cent damaged, and at Condie 90 acres of rye with in a month of cutting were lvt. Find-lator, Bethune and Young and Bradwell and Allen report "heavy h'all. About 800 acres were effected northeast of Bruno but the grain will pick up. Hall at one or two Isolated points In Manitoba and Alberta did not damage. The grain Is not only - coming up quickly but It If growing thick and sturdy and only a few districts report worms. A few cases of cutworms have appeared In the district between Neepawa and Russell, Manitoba, but damage so far Is negligible as It Is In scattered places. In Saskatchewan wire worm has appeared at one or two points In all, without causing undue alarm.
