DAILY EDITION Tuesday, August SO, 1027 ORE DISCOVERY ALICE ARM The striking of what looks like a large and valuable deposit of copper ore in the Yangaurd property at Alice Arm will give a great impetus to' mining at that camp. The find is particularly interesting because. it is the result of the initiative of British Columbia monied interests. The two Vancouver men, Colonel Victor Spencer and General McKae are to be congratulated on the work they are deing and it will be the wish of everyone in the district that they will make a lot of money oat 6f the mine. If tbey do, there will be a chance for others to make some out of other properties for the influence of a good shipping mine on a camp is very great. Laziness may be the result of heredity, or just pure cusiedness. PAY HIGH FOR MEDICAL AID Rev. Dr. Pringle, the well known United Church minister, has been writing' to the southern newspaper urging the need of health insurance. And yet there are difficulties in the way. If we make it easy..to be siek we shall find a great many more being sick, but if H is found by the vendors of patent medicines that during the Christmas holidays it is useless to advertise cures for sickness because the people hare not time to be side. The? have the holitTav spirit and remain well. Make sickness unattractive and people do not mime about it, with corresponding big result. There are many people who dote in being ill. They boast of it to their friends and never fail to tell them of the very latest spasms they have had. They frequent the doctor's offices and often take to their beds when they should be about their duties, forgetful of the slight twinges which can be suppressed by power ot fhe They tell me that the mosquito season is over in the Interior and it is found that the disposition of the creature was just about the same as in former years, only rather more so. HEALTH IS NATURAL AND BEAUTIFUL Health is natural and beautiful. Sickness is unnatural and ugly. . One might even go farther and say that health is godly, whereas sickness Is of the devil. In China they have the right idea. They believe there that when a man is ill he is possessed of a devil, and he is. When he is well it is proof that the divine spirit is with him, keeping him as God intended he should be. To think health. breathe health and talk health instead of thinking sickness, talking i t. ...... . i . i . i , , , . oitjuiesa anu not oreaining enougn is me Desi gospel tor every person. k It would be difficult to speak truthfully and say that an ordinary can of Commercial pork and beans is very hoggish. FERRY FOR SKEENA RIVER ' , ' i Thereiseems to have beeri a misconcentlon in reirard to the Skeena-RIvr ferry The original suggestion made to the minister of lands when he was last here was that while the road connecting ..with, lerrace is being built, a ferry might be operated for a few- miles connecting the ends so that the road might be used as a through highway several years earlier than otherwise would be the case. Suppose the road is built from both ends and forty miles remains unconnected. These ends connected by ferry would enable Prince Rupert "people to drive to Terrace and other places and would enable tourists to come through to tliia city. Also it would enable Ketchikan people to bring their cars and drive to the outside world. If the road is built along the Skeena, we are strongly of opinion that the ferry would be a great advantage but it will not be needed yet. 6C3 Geo. D. Some tune ago there was something in your paper about, priAectrrig the mee On . Kaien Island;'. 1 am- one of those who would Uke to tee the Island kept as a game preserve. Now that the road Is being built to Galloway Rapids it will be easy for Illicit hunters to go out after these tame deer so they need protection. If dogs were kept from chasing them, the deer would become tame and would be one of the sights to snow tourists. Then with a road to the top of the mountain from the other side this would become an In teresting place for tourists to stop off and spend a day. I think we should always bear In mind the possibilities' of this place a tourist resort and should try to make it attractive. Any wild animals are always a great attraction. How would it be to have a lot of deputy game wardens appointed without aalary o help the provincial police and pre vent the slaughter of the deer on the -mtsklrts of the eltvT i city and protection of the deer.
