The deputy minister of marln and fisheries wrote the board In respect to the redistribution of Japanese licenses and Intimated that there would be no change in the policy of the department. The communication stated that the re commendations of the fisheries com mission made In 1922 would be adhered to with regard to the gradual eJlmlna tlon of Orientals from the fisheries The suggestion provoked some discus sion and finally, on motion of O. W. Nlckerson and Olof Hanson, the matter was referred to the fisheries committee for investigation. The Native sons of Canada had a communication before the board asking for co-operation in connection with the celebration of Canada's Jubilee and ask ed that representative attend a meeting on March 9 to consider plans. On motion of the board President W. O. Pulton was appointed as delegate to the meeting. TRAIL AT STEWART A letter from the Stewart Board o! Trade asking for co-operation in having a trail put In from Stewart to Telegraph Creek was referred to the committee of public works. An enclosure of a copy of a letter addressed to the Hon. Dr. W. H. Sutherland was also read. The Vanderhoof Board of Trade asked the co-operation of the Board of Trade in having tourists premlts Issued for ninety days instead of thirty days. It was intimated that the matter had already been adjusted satisfactorily. A party from the Evening Graphic of New York Intimated that It would be In the city on July 29 in the course of a trip to Alaska and the letter was referred to the publicity and entertainment committees for consideration. The Virginia Associated Chambers of Commerce will also be asked to visit the city this summer on then- excursion north. Arrangements for entertaining have already been attended to by the Canadian National Railway which is li&ndllng the party. O. A. Woodland asked that some re presentation be made to CUM. officials who will be In the city in a wee or ten days time with regard to connecting Port Edward cannery with the city telephone service. He said that the cannery people were anxious to have communication with the city. The presentation was made by. O. A Woodland Who delivered the following address: It affords me very great pleasure to be deputed by the president to per form the pleasing function of making this small presentation to our ex-presl dent, Olaf Hanson, as a memento of his year as president of the Prince Ru pert Board of Trade. Mr. Hanson has not only proved him- ' self an excellent official by attending to even the smallest details of any mat ter which came before him, but during his year 1920, which was an epochal one, the first shipment of wheat from the local elevator was made. To mark this auspicious event and to show our appreciation to a board of trade presl dent who, as we all know, worked con slstently and hard to bring about this happy state of affairs, we, the members of the. Prince Rupert Board of Trade, present to you, Mr. Hanson, this small token of our appreciation, which con' slats of a small cut-gists bowl with sliver cover suitably inscribed, filled with wheat from the first cargo shipped from Prince Rupert on the Suzuki Line steamer, "Aden Maru." j other ji:m:iu!N0 I There are several gentlemen, also mem bers of this board, who did excellent work In putting this port on the map through wheat exportation.
