Member of Audit Bureau ef Circulation DAILY EDITION Friday, Nov. 4, 1927 SOMETHING DEFINITE AHEAD Just aa a matter of sennoniiing, it may be said that there should be something definite ahead for everyone if he or she would attain the greatest happiness jn life. To just drift along without a ay definite aim ets very tiriag and very soon life is not worth living. The young man. especially, is one who. if he has a definite aim ahead, will bend his energies toward the realization of that aim and will enjoy .the struggle which may or may not lead to victory. After all, the struggle is the imiortant thing and not the fact that the goal is reached. CO.OPERATION HEM'S In a football match if a man stacriiices those on his own side and plays ealy an individual game, he soon finds that he loses out. If he plays the game according to the rules, helping his fellows aad they-heJpiou him, victory is much more likely . Usually the aide that plays the best combination is the on that wins. So in every walk of life. We are social beings and have to play the game, giving and taking continually but always moving forward if possible. If ground is lost it has to be made up. -CON(UtATUIATIONS TO CONSERVATIVES The Coervativ8 of this constituency are to bo congratulated on the result of their efforts to eliminate the possibility of a three corner fight at the next provincial election. S. M. Newton had announced himself as candidate and many local Conservatives had declared they would not have a man foist himself on them in that man ner again' They would nominate a man and fight it out, win or lose. Now, through the efforts of members of the Conservative Association, ilr. Newton has agreed to withdraw his own self-nom I H n . t 1 . LI 1 .1 . Now, it is to be presumed, mere wuj ue a straigni contest between Liberal and Conservative, unless a Labor candidate Aould deeide to take the field. SELLING OF P.G.E. New there comes a South Vancouver man who objects to selling the P.G.E. by the government because he thinks he sees the property becoming valuable. We suggest that he forget that phase of the situation. The P.G.E. is not worth very much and is probably-more of a liability than an asset, if it has to be operated. The road is not fit for trans-continental traffic because of the poor grade and it is doubtful if it will really become a factor in the business of the Peace River country. WISH GENERAL SUTTON WELL We wish General Sutton well in his efforts at railway building but we have not much faith in the outcome. 'It is a big project, that of combining the P.G.E. and the E.D. & B.C. and connecting them up by way of the Peace River country. If it is done it will have to be by means of heavy subsidies from the Dominion and the provinces and we doubt if the people of the country will be ready to agree to giving money or other valuables for such a purpose! When the Peace is opened up it should be by on- of the two older railway companies who-a re in a position to (rive a real service and to connect the country' with the rest of the world as wt-U as with Vancouver. ThroatXeest&Lungs There is no better safeguard against colds, chills, grippe, sore throats and bad coughs than these silver-wrapped Peps tablets. Taking Peps periodically during trying winterly weather keeps tbe delicate ropiratory organs in beahby condition and protects against harm to chest and lungs. Sealed up in every Pepj tablet are powerful medicinal fumes which pass with the breath down the throat and bronchials intothe lungs. Dr. Gordon Stables and other eminent authorities acknowledge Peps invaluable foryoungand old. fit Ait. aasrifs'rs'a- sf rstfera (1L j WERE WEDDED CAPTAIN CASEY LAST EVENING GIVES ADDRESS 1 Mrs. Eva Lear Ik-come Bride of Speaks la Houry Club at iU William John .Marshall at I LuneWn Yerteseja.,- United Church Ceremony j C&Htrrh Amy A qut but interesting wmxufsg too?
