parade
of
the

was
a
pleasing
surprise.

owners
had
gone
to
a
lot
of
trouble
to
dress
up
their
craft
and
the
parade
was
colorful
and
attractive.
The
'Judges
awarded
first
prize
to
Vaquero,
with
Collfer
a
good
second
and
I.O.U.
third.
The
afternoon
was
taken
up
with
the
races.
Owing
to
the
"handicapping
system
it
was
difficult
for
the
spectator
U
tell
whether
the
first
boat
over
the
lint
was
the
winner
or
not,
but
the
finish,
were
in
many
cases
extremely
close
and
In
one
event
a
matter
of
three
seconds
separated
four
boats.
The
rowing
races
made
a
stronger
appeal
to
the
average
watcher
and
In
all
of
these
the
finishes
were
exciting.
Ow
ing
to
there
being
no
coxswain
the
steering
was
erratic
and
crowding
was
hard
to
avoid
but
all
competitors
had
the
right
spirit
and
this
was
one
of
th;
happiest
features
of
the
meeting.
The
ladles'
singles
resulted
In
a
tie.
The
lunches
provided
by
the
club
were
popular
and
a
much
appreciated
treat,
while
bees
never
swarmed
round
honey
more
thickly
than
the
sweet-toothed
did
around
Alex
MeRae
and
his
candy.
Congratulations
are
the
order
of
the
day
for
the
committee
and
the
executive.
