SPORT CHAT The close of another successful out door sport aeaaon now draws nigh al though there la still room for pleaty ot excitement during the next four or five weeks. One of the outstanding features of the now passing season Is the splendid weather that has prevailed. Perhaps In no seasons of the past have fewer scheduled matches been put ofl than during the year of 1927. Under favorable conditions, gates on the whole have been very satisfactory and prob ably the public at large has taken more general Interest in the various activities than previously. It has been a good season which bodes well for the future. The city has had an experiment with a two team baseball league and most will agree that It has turned out better than might have - been expected. The Qyros and Native Son of Canada have provided good spor( for the baseball fans and. though the latter won twice as many games as the former, tit genera), quality of play has been, evener than the standing sheet ' sfiowV.' It B to be hoped, however, that In another season it will be possible to have at least three teams. With good material comlnz ud from the Intermediates there 11s promise that next year the league may be enlarged In such a way as to provide better competition. There may be some of the old timers to criticize and harK back to the good old days of Oallles. Sons of England Sons of Canada, etc. but tt must be ad mttted that the past football season has also been a notable one. With teams such as the Moose, Grand Terminals and Regiment, the atmosphere mav have seemed a little different but, it was nevertheless most interesting and plenty of good competition has been offered. There la stUl the Qilhuly Cup series to be played and It should com mand quite as much attention as have the other series. The Regiment 'tis said. Is going to make a real effort to capture these final season honors after having seen the Moose take the Stuart Shield and the Dominion Day Cup while the Grand Terminals have cinched the league trophy, the final game for which, between the Moose and Regiment, will be played tomorrow evening.
