Both games were fast with the Terrace girls showing excellent combination work and deserving great credit for their first season In basketball. The Terrace boys seemed to be a little slow In following up advantages on different occasions and were not as effective In their fch.ots on the bosket as were the local boysT The large hall, too, somewhat handicapped the visitors who at first found It difficult to accustom themselves to the large playing area. The basebalj' association 1 planning for an early meeting when plana for tha season will be discussed. This year there will probably be at least three baseball teams In the city league with one team having the backing of the Oyro Club and another the backing of the Sons of Canada. As to what organization will attempt to back other teams, there Is very little Information at the present time. From the 'standpoint of Interest, a three team lea gue Is much preferable to a two team league. There should be plenty of material for three teams, even If each . " , I. l',ad 1 P'T certain number of former w.n .,uot, "V ; Junl' plsyers. It Is better for the sport and tends to encourage the younger players. There are a large number of Junior tennis plsyers in the city and It might be a good thing to arrange for a junior tennis tournament this season. If all the competitions are to be confined to the older and experienced players, there la not much hope of encouraging the youngsters. Nothing definite yet about that Junior lacrosse match . as one of the attractions for the first of July! With the nosiblJlt.y of warships and plenty of visitors. In the city tor Canada's birthday there should be united effort on the part of the citizens to provide worthy attractions. Perhaps, sometimes there Is a tendency to bring plenty of irhterlal in from the outside to furnish sporting competitions, when real home talent might be encouraged to good advantage. .
