Tinker asked that a delega. ttoh from the gymnasium' and swlm- mlng tank committee be given an op. portunlty of addressing the council. The request having been granted, Dr. P. P. Kenny spoke briefly on behalf of himself and Karl Barrle who had been asked to meet the council. Dr. Kenny said that the gymnasium committee bad held several meetings and had decided that It could not do much until some decision had been made In regard to a site. He understood that the city engineer had been asked to make a report on various sites I and askrd If the council had reached any decision In the matter. City engineer H. A. McLean Informed thejouncll that he had evidently mis understood the request of the council. He understood that he was to go over proposed plans and suggest a site best suited for the purpose. The plans which he had Just recently received -15c!were not aufflclently far advanced to enable him to decide. In sneaklnz of suggested sites, he Informed the council that he understood the site at the corner of' Sixth Avenue and McBrlde could not be used for the building ac cording to the terms of the agreement by which the property came Into possession of the city. Alderman Stephens favored the site at that corner as being In the geographical centre of the city and thought that the city solicitor might find out If It were not possible to us the land for 'that purpose. .
