The funeral of the late Peter McDonald who died suddenly at Remo on Tuesday morning was held here oa Wednesday evening, the funeral service being read at the grave-aide by Rev. Wm. Allan. Rev. T. J. Marah alao spoke feelingly of the very high esteem In which the deceased was held in the oommunlty, his kindly dis position and business integrity having made "him numerous friends, not only among local citizens but among frequent visitors from outside points. The funeral service was attended by a very large crowd of sorrowing friends. noticeable among them being many of the real old timers of the valley. Pall bearers were J. K. Gordon, O. T.' 8un dap. Robt. Carlett. Arthur Carr, Geo. Little and Alex. Kerr, all old-time friends of the deceased. IVAN lEKKYMAN Since the opening of the Terrace bridge Mr. McDonald who for a num ber of yeara ran the Terrace ferry, has lived at Remo. In the capacity of ferryman there. Early Tuesday morning he was seen to be about as usual, but shortly after seven o'clock, when he was not at the ferry an Investigation was made and be was found lying on the floor of his cabin, dead. I lean failure was the cause of his death, he having been a sufferer from heart trou ble awl hardening of the arteries for fctveraj years. Constable Service of Ter I race was notified and took charge of the remains. The late Mr. McDonald was born in Locklsvec. Scotland, but when a young man went to Australia where he spent most of his life. He spent some five years In Vancouver before coming to this district In 1908. but has resided here continuously since that time. He took up land In the Lakelse Valley and for a number of years was government road foreman there before taking charge of the Terrace ferry. As far as Is known he had no relatives In this country. Very many floral tokens from friends ai: along the line as far as Prince Ru pert testified to the esteem in which he was held. UNERAL OF CAPTAIN i McKAY TOOK PLACE AT KITSELAS ON TUESDAY The funeral of the late Gordon YVU- !am McKay, captain In the Salvation j Army, who was drowned at Carlisle i cannery recently, took place here. The funeral service was conducted by Cap-1 tain Boyes of Qlen Vowell and was attended by large numbers of natives from all up and- down the river Including Port Esslngton. Captain McKay was a son of chief M N. McKay of Vanarsdol who was pre sent at the funeral and who spoke at the graveside, thanking those who had brought the body of his son up the river and all who had taken part in the funeral, and to the women of Port Esslngton and others who had sent flowers.
