Our- ne pUyed his usual neat game tackling well and firing hla forwards many delightful passes. Hill again turned in a fast game He always had the speed of Use opposing wing and fed his forwards etererly. Lundle put up a good game at time. Harrison was fast dandy goal. Straohaa turned te a splendid display. He trteaed the defence repeatedly and The local sport situation la one that w lw" hard keen trier. Dickens to the ordinary person in the street may seem la an unsatisfactory state his year. Then has been no baseball and the football has been yost middling. There lias been Junior laeeoaae but owing to the players betas away there has beam no settlor lacrosse lately. So eay the rimilmUta And yet there la good reason for the statement that locally we are on the threshold of an athletic revival In Prince Rupert. The only way that sport wUl thrive genuinely In any community Is when those taking part In It are boys and sttU who live In the district. There has been a tendency to Import players This Is equal to saying that the local product la no good. But let some outsider come and let him tell what he has done elsewhere and there la a Ji Q grab Urn. That la what has eontrlb- uwo to weal iaca n success m use past and It is because we are sowing away from that attitude that it may safely be said wo are on the tteesnold of an athletic revival. These athletes from outesde points may be of sood sbOlty but they have not that Interest In local matters that really contributes to the success of sport. This year there have appeared In Senior WootbsJl quite a number of youths some not more than fifteen or siateen years old. We do not advocate the regular playing of teen age boys in senior footban. Physically they bare not the weight, the strength nor the stamina. And It has happened too that many a promising athlete baa been polled by a too early Introduction to senior sport. But these local boys hare turned out well occasionally and what la to the point har shown a good knowledge of the science of the game aa well as of the spirit in which to play It. For this reason we do not hesitate to say that there la a bright future for football in Prince Rupert. And there will be more satisfaction to the spectators to an to watch games where thetr own brothers, eons or Friends are playing. These boys learned their football la the school league and their display reflects credit on those responsible for the running of the school league and tor the training of the boys. Oeorge Cochrane was one whose work will be id by many of the boys and Jack Campbell la another. The teaebers. of the various schools have giren much of their own time too to encourage clean, healthy sport that will develop s clean mind and a healthy body, the ability to win modestly and even more Important, to iwe smilingly and without any whim paring. Thla la character building and is aa Important as book work though there are many Individuals and bodies of cltlaens who, often overlook this part, of, , oldi, make-up.
