We have already referred to the theatre, which promises to be an outstanding building. What is even more noteworthy in the number of little houses being built by residents to be. used as homes for themselves. If March is any criterion of what is to follow, then we are in for a good building year. The outlook is excellent and we should all take cheer from the figures just published. AMERICANS COMING For a number of year Canadians have been leaving the country and gbfng tn Hve in the States. , Now we are to see a change and Americans have begun ti imnuY Canada and Canadians to return. Attempts have been made at various times to manufacture political capital over the exodus trom tiiis country. As a matter of fact it was the tuuli oi no par:y or group hut simply otic of those movements which follow periods of prosperity. The tide has set toward Canada nisi now aiu! iu must m;.ke tiie most of it while it is that way for after a period of years it will again turn. Owing to the imnien.se development in progress in this country the change is not likely to come lor nrne time. This is to he Canada's century and We shall see a great growth here before long. Wh.it we have to do is to try to keep Prince Rupert in litu-with dcw-liipnieiit and to ee that we .-hare in the progress which i aue in other parts ot the country. RETIRING THE DEBT When money is borrowed by the government it is expected that each year a sum of money be set aside for the retirement of her bonds. Last year it was possible to so wipe out a million dollars of the B.C. debt. That to some extent offsets some of the money being borrowed. It is good news that the sinking funds are intact and when the bonds fall due they can be taken up. RADIO BROADCASTING Before very long it will be necessary for the governments of the iiamrtiitniM inn Human lii mtiniiihii nml nnniirii ith broadcasting 'of this continent. At presentit is more or less open to anyone. The result is that radio fans find frequent interruptions from different stations on the same wave or so close as to be difficult to tune out. In cities it is found that some particular religious organizations set up powerful stations, which during the hours when they are on the air makes it impossible to receive from any other stations. Propaganda stations will eventually have to go and thefr place will be taken by educative and entertainment programs. We do not propose to discuss the case of the Organitation recently banned by the government except to say that as long aa religions or any other propaganda is to be allowed it would be a pity to allow one and bar another. At the same time propagandists should be compelled to keep within reasonable limits of decency and not attack their neighbors. The whole radio business is new and will have to be developed in such a manner as to be of most benefit to the country as a whole. In Britain the state controls the broadcasting with excellent results, yet some there chafe at the restrictions which prevent private individuals broadcasting.
