The boys who received the extra pint of milk a day gained an average of 6.98 pounds each, and grew an average of 2.63 inches in a year. 3. In addition, they became far more high-spirited and irrepressible, being often in trouble on that uccount. "A further important fact win observed. During one winter, while in other houses the sickness rate was somewhat higher than usuul owing to influenza and a limited outbreak of measles, there was a complete absence of illness among the boys with the milk ration." After such an investigation, the enormous value of milk as a food must be considered as beyond dispute, aays the Empire Marketing Board. Yet in England and Wales the total average consumption of milk is barely one-third of a pint 11 day.
