JURY LIST IS CAUSE OF DELAY Astsizes Adjourn Soon After Sitting Yesterday Afternoon Owing to Error The assizes were adjourned soon after being called yesterday af ternoon. The accused man in murder case, Frfte Turner, was brought into court and the charge against him of having unlawfully killed another man named Kris-tiansen at Rsphoe Point in Dean Channel was read. A Finnish in. terpreter named Ilelge Elkengren i of Vancoaver was sworn and the prisoner pleaded "not guilty." Archie Johnson, ICC. .assisted by W. E. Fisher appeared for the Crown and Milton Gonzales was appointed by the judge to represent the prisoner. Mr. Gonzales asked for time to prepare his case and it was set for Thursday morning: It was reported to the court by Mr. Johnson that owing to jurors outside the jurisdiction having been called, the Jury list was illegal and should be cancelled. This was done and after hearing counsel Mr. Justice McDonald or-1 dered the sheriff to prepare a new jury list of 48 and submit them I at the opening of court this morning at 10.30 when the assault I case, of Rex versus Contois would I be proceeded with CITY JAIL IN GOOD CONDITION REPORTS JURY ON INSPECTION P. W. Anderson, foreman of the Grand Jury at the Assizes, which 1 was excused from further ser-i vice this morning, announced that ' an inspection of the city jail had i been made by the jury and that , the premises were found to be in 1 a satisfactory condition.
