Airplane Crashed Near Butedale and ' .Mechanic Partridge Dies Result of Injuries Received When on Way Here The Boeing airplane under charter to the Department of Fisheries met with an accident near Butedale yesterday as a result of which the mechanic W. G. Patridge is dead and Pilot Luke i in the hospital here, although not seriously injured. It seems that the plane was flying low near Butedale in the course of its fisheries patrol duties when it suddenly took a nose dive and struck the water and was badly wrecked. A boat operated by William Swanson happened to be nearby and at once went to the rescue. The two injured men were extricated and taken to Butedale where first aid was administered and then they were sent to ihe hospital here, Partridge dying while on the way. Luke is reported to be doing well and will soon be around again. The accident occurred two miles south of Butedale. The fishing boat bringing the dead man and the injured pilot arrived at 2.80 this morning. Partridge suggered a broken back as well as having, both legs fractured. He is .survived by a widow in Vancouver and the remains are in the hands of the D.C. Undertakers. Luke .suffered injuries to his head and shock. Ill wife was at Butedale and came here with him. Partridge body will be forwarded tonight on the' steamer Prince Rupert to Vancouver where interment will take place.
