Boston Grill Leung Chung Found Not Guilty of Taking Life j Of Constable Sargent Vancouver Jury Deliberates for Three Hours and Fifteen I Minutes and Frees Formerly Convicted Man VANCQUVER, October 6. Leung Chung, Chinese, charged with the murder of Constable Ernest Sargent of the Vancouver police force, was acquitted last night by the jury in the supreme court assizes before Mr. Justice Denis Murphy after three hours and fifteen minutes' deliberation. Sargent was shot and fatally wounded in the early morning of November 5 last year while on duty in the Mount Pleasant district. He died several days later. It was the second trial of the Chinaman on the murder charge. At the first trial at the spring assizes he was convicted and sentenced to hang. An appeal was entered and the court of appeal ordered a new trial on the t grounds principally that the evidence relating to identi- fication from photographs was inadmissable.
